Yerba Mate - Fat Burner or Sham? What Is It?

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

I am a guy. That means that I love gadgets and trying the next big thing. When it came to weight-loss it meant that I would try every new-fangled piece of equipment or pill that said it would help. Yeah, that Health Rider was a pure waste of money. If you have read through my blog you know that I have given this fools game up. Fighting hard against my natural inclination I have moved to simplicity and natural-non-processed life. I am not 100% but am doing a pretty good job.

So when I saw this thread, link here, on the bodybuilding.com forum titled hands down, the best fat burner ever… yerba mate’. My eyebrow went up and my skepticism kicked in. I read through this long, long thread and decided to give Yerba Mate a shot. (more…)

Book Review  The Biggest Loser The Weight-Loss Program to Transform Your Body, Health and Life

I purchased this ‘book’ from the bargain bin on Amazon.  There was a friend of mine that wanted to follow the program as laid out by the book and wanted me to follow.  It was cheap so what the heck.

The book is very short and the food/exercise plan really has nothing to do with the show.  The show is actually fat camp on tv…but I digress.  If you wish to purchase a book to follow the lives of the Biggest Loser and get their tips this has some of that.  Not a lot of that, but some.  If you are looking for a great weight-loss system, well just read more.

Here is the system presented by the book in my own words.  Count calories, eat 7 X your body weight in calories, eat fruits and veggies, protein, and low complex carbs, do cardio and strength training exercises.  Let me see, did I miss anything?  Nope, I think I got it all in there.

To be fair I am using their strength training routine and found a good understanding of the need to be comfortable in my own skin before succeeding in weight-loss.  The strength training routine is simply a strength circuit workout.  It was worth my 3 bucks, but I would not spend more on it.
