Why Start Losing Now?

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I have been between 350 and 375 pounds for the past several years. What in the world made me decide to lose weight now? In a way I ‘decided’ to lose weight the moment I gained more than 10 pounds over my military fighting weight. I ‘decided’ but I never came to grips with the reality of it. Life issues, and all those other issues that give me excuses to start next Monday, or next month successfully kept my action in check. Then there was this show that came on TV the night of my last doctor appointment. (more…)

Exercise - the Evil 8 Letter Word

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Part of the new life and losing weight deal is moving the body in a meaningful way. You might call this exercise, but that word is so commercialized that it no longer means what I am trying to get at here today. We simply need to move more than we usually do in our daily living that has led us to being our current size. In the beginning it may not even involve sweat. (more…)

She Overcame: Kelly Bruno

Kelly Bruno

“WHO SHE IS: Kelly Bruno was born on 23 March, 1984 with a birth defect that resulted in the amputation of her right leg below the knee. If the story ended there it would belong on some feel-good Saturday Morning Special, and not on Ranger Up. Luckily it doesn’t and we all have the pleasure of staring at pictures of her kicking all kinds of ass. In addition to being out-of-this-world hot, a published author, and a Biology/Pre-Med graduate from a prestigious university(that would probably rally for weeks if we published its name here), she has taken the world of disabled athletics by storm, claiming the 200-meter and 800-meter track and field world records for below-the-knee amputees while still in high school. Her 800-meter record still stands today. ” Ranger Up

Wherever you go, there you are!

Monday, May 28th, 2007

I first heard the line, “Wherever you go, there you are.” in the movie “Buckaroo Bonzai”. The quote is fairly popular and has been attributed to everyone from Mad Max to Confucious. While I don’t know who said it first, I do know it applies to all of us. (more…)

My Brilliant Plan to Lose 170 Pounds

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

This information that I am about to reveal is TOP SECRET and meant for your ears only. The weight loss industry does not care if you ever lose your weight or keep the weight off once you lose it. They make money from our misery. That is what they are about. Diets, diet foods, pills and supplements are not the answer for most of us.

My plan is not a diet and not a secret. The plan is summed up in three parts:

  1. Eat mostly unprocessed foods, known today as ‘whole foods’
  2. Take in fewer calories than it takes to maintain my weight
  3. Exercise the body and mind

That is it. Why is this so hard to do? If this is all I have to do why am I 170 pounds overweight? These questions will be answered during my journey.

It Begins

This is a blog for those people that need to lose or have lost a great deal of weight. It has been my experience that people simply can not relate to those of us that need to lose 100 or more pounds. That is where this blog comes in to play.

I welcome you all.
